MEET KATIE

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

LCSW #SW17182 (Florida) LCSW #C012724 (North Carolina)

Katie is the founder and owner of Katie Husted Counseling, a teletherapy practice serving women and mothers in both North Carolina and Florida. Katie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and is actively working on her Perinatal Mental Health-Clinical (PMH-C) certification to bring more access to therapy services to women throughout their pregnancy, post-partum, and motherhood journeys.

Katie received her undergraduate degree from The University of Florida with a major in Psychology before continuing on to get her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California. Katie began her first semester of clinical internship at a community mental health agency where she spent time conducting biopsychosocial assessments for individuals being admitted for inpatient mental health care. Katie also became an employee at this community mental health center, and over the course of 6 years, she worked with children and adults with mental health diagnoses, on both an inpatient and outpatient level, and also spent time interning for the center’s residential substance abuse program. Katie continued to gain experience in the social work arena as a medical social worker, working for both skilled nursing facilities and hospice organizations.

Shortly after completing her licensure requirements in 2019, Katie began working for an online platform providing telehealth therapy. In 2021, Katie launched her private practice, with a focus on serving women. Katie has come to love working with adult women, generally ranging from ages 18-45 (although she worked with and enjoy working with clients outside of this age range, too!). Katie works with women of all walks of life, including college students, single women, mothers, widows, women going through career changes, women navigating marriage, and more. Katie finds joy and honor in supporting women and guiding her clients in feeling empowered and capable of change.

Katie offers a 15-minute, free consultation call to make sure she can meet the potential client’s needs as a therapist. From there, she sends electronic intake paperwork and connects with the client to schedule the first appointment. Appointments are 53-55 minutes long, and Katie suggests meeting weekly when first starting out. Katie promotes a safe, nonjudgmental space. Current and past clients describe her as “relatable” and someone with "zero judgment". She utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing to help clients navigate depression, anxiety, general life stress, relationships, boundaries, work/life balance, and perinatal mood disorders, as well as general support throughout pregnancy and postpartum.
