Katie’s passion for working with mothers has blossomed and grown through the experience of becoming a mother herself. She is committed to helping women feel supported in remaining true to themselves as they enter into this new role and phase of life, and she has an innate understanding that every mother strives to provide their children with a loving, supportive and comfortable environment in order to become happy, successful and well-adjusted adults.
It may surprise you to learn that Maternal Mental Health challenges can linger far beyond the one-year window of childbirth, and Katie understands that Maternal Mental Health issues can include a complex range of symptoms and disorders, such as depression, anxiety, and disconnection from reality. The contributing factors can result from biological, psychological, and social stressors, such as a lack of support, family history, or previous experience with these disorders. It may also come as a shock to learn that these effects are so very commonplace and can impact more than 1 in 5 women after giving birth, yet they are not universally screened for, and as a result, nor are they treated.
At Katie Husted Counseling, we offer a judgment-free zone and want to remind you that you are not alone. There is absolutely no shame in recognizing, talking about and treating the emotional changes that come along with becoming a mother. Katie firmly believes that in order to best take care of your children, you must also take care of yourself. She can offer guidance and tools to help you navigate the everyday challenges, ground yourself, and get you back to feeling more like you for the happiness and health of your whole family.
